VHNA Proposal for Springfield High School Expansion

Read the May/June 2009 Springfield Neighborhood Newsletter
Yes friends, it’s that time of year when everyone is trying to get into your pocket, and VHNA is no exception. But we ask for very little ($10 annual dues) and hope our membership base will continue to grow so we can cover our costs for another year. We have a handy-dandy membership form on page 5 to make renewing your membership fun and easy, but wait, there’s more. For a limited time only (until we decide it’s over) we are having a brand new promotion called “Member-Get-A-Member”. If you recruit a new VHNA member, and they put your name down as recruiter, your name will be entered in a drawing for a $25.00 Cash Prize to be drawn some time in the Summer of 2008. That’s it, so get out there and recruit!

June 2009 VHNA Point of Pride
1873 North Vinegar Hill

In honor of our Prairie Heritage, I submit this view of the northern part of VHNA territory showing Walnut as the farthest street stopping at Edwards. On the right is the Passfield farm where the SHS track field is now. Cook Street doesn’t go further than Passfield and Lawrence seems to take that little jog that it still has. I think last months POP shows on Edwards with Evan and Marilyn Britten’s 1857 home further west. The full view is on display in at the Lincoln Library on the third floor southwest corner with thanks to the Sangamon Valley Collection .

VHNA has won an award from the Illinois Times "Springfield in Bloom Contest." Thanks to all of the volunteers who have helped with the gardens.
